We are truly experiencing a spring awakening here at The Grand as we dedicate March Health and Beauty month.

At NYC Fashion Week, I had the pleasure of once again working with lead stylist for Kerastase Paris, Odile Gilbert.  Jason Wu, Creatures of the Wind, Suno, and Vantan were the shows I did this spring.

Beauty trends from NY Fashion Week

While each designer’s looks were completely different, a few key beauty trends stuck out.  Sports styles, a marriage of energetic attitude and seductive sporty detail were prevalent, as well as a mono mix of black and white graphics, print plays of geo prints, dramatic prints, and tribal prints.  There was also a 20′s twist with color blocking using shoes and accessories.  The use of a splash of pastels in unexpected ways rounds out  just a few of the stand out beauty trends to mention.

Athletic Glamour

Beauty is being defined by cleanly structured, yet undone, romantic, and empowered looks.  I relate it to an almost athletic take on glamour.

Hair Trends

Hair is healthy, but not perfectly coiffed.  Updos are slicked back but loosely pinned up. Make-up is defined, but the edges are soft.  It’s the juxtaposition of textures that makes features shine.

A bolder brow, softly defined lash line, and translucent skin prevailed at New York’s Fashion Week.

According to Thalgo and Dictionary.com, cellulite is used to describe the lumpy fat deposits just below the surface of the skin.  Cellulite happens when the bands of connective tissue attaching our muscles to our skin get too tight and fat deposits get compressed.  They get trapped and swell.

As we age, connective tissue weakens and cellulite gets worse.  More women have cellulite problems than men.  Possible reasons are hormones, genetics, sedentary lifestyle, or an obstruction of lymphatic fluid flowing between the enlarged fat cells and the surrounding blood vessels and connective tissue.

The Thalgomince LC24 Cellulite Wrap treatment is recommended in a series of 6 for optimal results.  You can do one everyday, or at the least, one every other week.  The treatment involves some moving around of the client with deeper and faster movements on the skin.  This treatment is not designed to be for relaxation.

Thalgomince LC24 Treatment Details

The treatment includes the ankles through the stomach and glutes.  The upper arms can be added for an additional fee.

The mask is applied to knees through stomach and glutes. Treatment starts with the client lying on their stomach. The client wears a breast towel, disposable underwear, and is covered with a towel to keep warm.  A light exfoliation is applied and then taken off with warm towels.

This is followed by a vigorous stimulating massage with movements towards the heart and lymph system.  Both have high concentrations of caffeine to turn fat into energy.  The client then turns over and the same procedure is applied to the front.  A rubbery cream mask is then applied to the stomach and the front and back of the legs and glutes by lifting and turning.  The client is then wrapped in plastic with light heat for 20 min.  The mask is then peeled off, the plastic taken out from under you, and an application of LC 24 cream is applied to finish the treatment.
It’s recommended that you don’t take a shower for 6 hours so that the caffeine and minerals still activate the body for optimal results.  We also have retail products to maintain your bikini body at home.

The Shower and Go Dewy Look

This look is good for mornings when you’ve got only a few minutes to get out the door.

Start with a light foundation and a little pressed powder for the base, then add a deep rose blush where you naturally blush (cheeks and even a little on the temples).  Then use a clear balm on the eyelids and lips, just to catch the light and give that natural, fresh-out-of-the-ocean or shower vibe.

Blonde hair is being taken by storm with wanting that natural look without the streaks.  Bayalage is great for blondes after finding that beautiful base color.  It’s perfect for those who want lighter pieces without going too blonde.

Red Hair

Red hair is very easy to wear.  The trick is finding the precise shade of red for your skin tone.  Balancing out the fair amount of warmth and neutral color in the hair is the trick.

Sometimes you may even have two different shades of red highlighted into your hair to make that perfect red.
